Petrol pump staff, Dorphang aide arrested

SHILLONG: The city police arrested two persons in connection with the rape and trafficking case involving a minor girl.
Nirdesh Jain of Chatarpur in     Madhya Pradesh, who is one of the accused in the case, was working as a manager in a petrol pump at Khliehriat. Jain fled to Guwahati to evade arrest.
Police said they received information about Jain on Wednesday that he was hiding in Guwahati’s Kumarpara. A Special Operation Team was sent to Guwahati immediately. Jain was arrested from Paltan Bazar at 11.30pm on Wednesday.
He was forwarded to the court that sent him to five-day police remand.
Another accused, Elbert Shemphang Kharlukhi, a surrendered HNLC cadre and Mawhati MLA Julius Dorphang’s aide, was arrested by the Special Cell Police Team from IGP point in the city on Thursday. Kharlukhi, who is from Mawlai Mawdatbaki, has been held on abetment charges.
