‘Rape accused only an agent of petrol dealer’

SHILLONG: The Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) has refuted claims that Nirdesh Jain, an accused in raping the trafficked minor is an employee with the organisation.
“He is merely an agent of one of our petrol dealers and manages a petrol pump at Khliehriat”, the IOC said.
Denying that Jain is their employee, the deputy manager (retail sales), Shillong retail sales area II, Ashim Paul Chowdhury said in a statement that there is no employee by the name of Jain.
He added that the news might have been generated from Facebook profile of Jain.
Moreover, he reiterated that Jain was a worker at the petrol pump.
