NONGPOH: The local MDC of Nongpoh constituency has urged the State Government to set up a full-fledged office in Ri Bhoi district to address the menace of malaria. Many cases of the vector-borne disease have been reported recently.
Speaking to the media, local MDC Rona Khymdeit said she had received several complaints from the locals who want a full-fledged District Malaria Office in Ri Bhoi where there is a prevalence of malaria.
She said she had recently taken up the matter with Minister of Health and Family Welfare Roshan Warjri who has promised to flag the issue to the Government. When contacted the District Medical and Health Officer S. Lyngdoh said the demand is a genuine one as Ri Bhoi till date has no dedicated malaria office.
Lyngdoh said being the former in-charge of the District Malaria Office, he too had taken up the matter with the Government, but so far there was no green signal.
