Conrad suggestion on vigilance body

TURA: The recent statement of Tura Lok Sabha MP Conrad K Sangma calling upon the State Government to set up vigilance and monitoring committee in each district for better implementation of MLA schemes has found support from South Tura MLA John Leslee K Sangma.
“I welcome the suggestion for a vigilance panel on MLA schemes. It is a positive suggestion that will be in the best interest of the people. Such a step will prevent misuse of funds,” said John Leslee Sangma.
Extending his support to the two NPP legislators, James Pangsang K Sangma and Nihim D Shira, should they bring it up for discussion in the coming budget session, John Leslee added, “It will definitely be supported by me on the floor of the House.”
The South Tura MLA has also suggested a joint press conference with the two NPP MLAs and also a session with NGOs to brief them as to how their MLA funds are being utilised.
“We can give the list of schemes proposed by us and go for a spot verification with the media and NGOs and representatives of the development committee of localities where the schemes have been implemented. I am sure this exercise will prove to the people his sincerity in what he says,” he said.
The legislator is also calling upon the Tura MP to do the same for his MPLAD schemes by calling a press meet to brief the media as to how and where his schemes have been implemented.
“I request him to kindly include me and represen-tatives from NGOs when the spot verification is conducted and together we can show the people of Meghalaya that we really walk the talk,” said John Leslee Sangma and urged the local NGOs to be more active in bringing transpa-rency in the implementation of both MP and MLA schemes in the future.
