SHILLONG: The Daribok Rural Resort has started renovation with the Rs 2.5 lakh sanctioned under the MPLAD funds by Conrad Sangma, said the Tura Adventure Club.
The home-stay will have the capacity to house an additional 20 guests. Apart from exploring the rich flora and fauna, there are gorgeous trekking routes for tourists who love adventure. In a statement, the club said the recreation of the Nok Achik (traditional hut) and Nok Pante (bachelor’s dormitory) “will go a long way in showcasing the traditional lifestyle led by the ancestors”.
The club, which is promoting eco-tourism, has planned to accommodate around 30 people with special emphasis on packages for schools and colleges at a nominal cost to experience the traditional lifestyle.
The club’s role will be limited in guiding and training the villagers in tourism-related activities thus leading to their self-sustenance with like-minded departments and groups.
