Shillong: ICARE believes that rape and sexual abuse is a real and prevalent crisis in Meghalaya. Over the last decade, the occurrences of rape,sexual abuse of children and minors have risen. In this connection, a People’s Conference is going to be held at St Anthony’s College’s Conference Hall on the 21st of January, 2017 at 2 pm, to enable us to come up with meaningful proposals on how to curb this alarming criminal trend that has come to haunt our society.

The Shillong Times first appeared as a tabloid weekly on 10th August 1945 under the editorship of Late Sudhindra Bhusan Chaudhuri. In 1958 it was converted to a Daily. Owing to financial constraints, within six months it reverted back to a weekly.
