Nongthymmai lose yet again in Super Division match
SHILLONG: Nongthymmai’s disastrous run in Shillong Cricket League Super Division continued as they were beaten once again this time by Riatsamthiah who defeated them by 68 runs in the match played in cricket ground, Polo on Friday. Electing to bat first, Riatsamthiah were all-out for 192 runs in 38.4 overs in which Ebormi Rangat and Shellingstar Thabah scored 52 and 36 runs respectively. Nongthymmai’s Kunal Lama took three wickets while Ranjeet Rai picked up two wickets. Once again Nongthymmai failed to provide any fight as they were bundled out for a paltry 124 runs in 23.5 overs with Andrew Ropmay and Vikram Rawat contributing 36 runs and 33 runs respectively. Riatsamthiah’s Aryan Borah took three wickets, while Md. Washid and Shaisngi Lyngdoh picked up two wickets each.
Bengaluru to host final of T20 World Cup for Blind
BENGALURU: The Cricket Association for the Blind (CABI) will host the final of the Twenty-20 World Cup at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium here on February 12, it was announced on Friday. The tournament, which is starting from January 30, will see Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, Nepal, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka and West Indies battling for the title. CABI president Mahantesh GK thanked Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) for extending its support to the cause. (IANS)
Iniesta to miss L Liga match against Eibar
BARCELONA: FC Barcelona captain Andres Iniesta will miss their La Liga match on Sunday against Eibar due to a minor injury to his left leg, the Catalan football giants said. In a statement on Friday, Barcelona did not specify how long Iniesta will be absent, but has not ruled out his participation in the second leg of Copa del Rey quarter-final against Real Sociedad on Thursday, reports Efe. The veteran midfielder was injured last Thursday night in the first leg game against Sociedad, which the Catalans won 1-0. After medical tests on Friday, Barcelona confirmed that it is a minor injury, but it will force Iniesta to miss Sunday’s game. (IANS)
Three Eden stands to be unveiled on Sunday
KOLKATA: The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) is to unveil on Sunday three Eden Gardens stands to be named after eminent personalities involved with the game in the state, a source said on Friday. The CAB officials are mulling naming seven stands after the likes of former India captain Sourav Ganguly and late cricket administrator Jagmohan Dalmiya. CAB Joint Secretary Avishek Dalmiya had proposed the names of Ghosh, Biswanath Dutt, and his father. (IANS)
