SHILLONG: The Meghalaya SSA Schools Association will go ahead with the proposed agitation on January 24 and 25.
Members of the association will stage a sit-in at the gate of the office of the Directorate of Educational Research and Training (DERT) at Laitumkhrah from 11am to 2 pm in protest against the delay in reissuing correct results for D.El.Ed. The teachers’ body had requested National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) to rectify the anomalies and declare the result for the trainees within a week. The one-week deadline ended on Sunday. The association’s general secretary, H.M Marbaniang, said the protest is because of the silence of NIOS chairman Chandra Bhushan Sharma, whose office is in Noida, on rectifying the results of the D.El.Ed trainees of 2013. There are 4,385 teachers in the 2013 batch.
The association had also demanded extension of the validity period of D.El.Ed training and announcement of dates for re-examination.
