SHILLONG: With NGOs and pressure groups intensifying their stir in the hope to retain Arun Kumar Kembhavi as Deputy Commissioner, the District Magistrate, D.M. Wallang has promulgated Section 144 CrPc in West Jaintia Hills district.
In this connection, the All Hynniewtrep People United Front (AHPUC) has slammed the district administration and the police department for issuing the order.
The organisers of the indefinite hunger strike, Meghalaya People United Front, stated that they had to discontinue their strike as police personnel stopped them on Republic Day.
