NONGSTOIN: The annual Nongkhnum Festival, jointly organised by the District Arts and Culture Society in West Khasi Hills and Apple Society Nongstoin, will start from February 23 at Nongkhnum River Island.
S. Warjri, EAC and member secretary of the District Arts and Culture Society, said the organisers are looking forward to a great turnover from all corners of India. He requested all sub-committee members to work diligently to make the two-day event a grand one.
Warjri said the main attraction would include events like cultural songs and dances, Kudiang (tree climbing), baby show, BMX and skating, beach football, country road cycling, horse racing, archery and trekking, among others.
Also, there will be a handicrafts exhibition and sale by the district commerce industries unit and the Basin Development Unit in Nongstoin.
Kynton Mawsor, chairman of Apple Society, appealed to locals to be hospitable to the visitors at the festival and that the venue “will be a no-plastic zone”.
