SHILLONG: As crime against woman is on the rise in the state, the South West Khasi Hills police on Monday organised a Village Defence Party (VDP) rally at Mawkyrwat police station with the theme” A Safer Society For Women and Children”.
It was attended by VDP members of different villages.
The rally was organised as part of police efforts to create awareness and sensitise VDPs on the growing menace of crime against women and children.
The district SP also gave a reward to the VDP Mawkyrwat for helping the police in raids, traffic management and controlling crime in the area.
