SHILLONG: The West Khasi Hills deputy commissioner has started acquiring land for upgrading the Nongstoin-RambraiKyrshai road and it will be completed shortly.
Officials said the National Highway Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) finalised the alignment of the 69.50km road in September 2015.  The road project will be taken up at a cost of Rs 426 crore and will be implemented by M/s Holtec Consulting Pvt. Ltd.
Once the two-laning of the road is complete, people from Nongstoin and West Khasi Hills travelling to Assam need not have to visit Shillong and can directly go to Assam.
