Assault
On February 10 at about 6.30 pm, three miscreants assaulted one Man Kumar Thapa (44) at Nongrah, Shillong. As a result, the victim sustained injuries and was shifted to Civil Hospital.
Thief beaten up by mob
One Pankaj Mishra lodged a complaint that on February 9, one Sunil Sunar (25) was caught red-handed and beaten up by the public while he was stealing two mattresses from his go-down at Quinton Road, Shillong. As a result, the accused sustained injuries and was admitted at Civil Hospital.
Fraud phone call
A woman of Air Force Station, Laitkor lodged a complaint that on February 7, she received one anonymous phone call, wherein the caller introduced himself as a Branch Manager of SBI and asked about her account number and other details. Later, she received a message in her cell-phone that Rs. 39,979 has been withdrawn from her account.
Jewellery over 7 lakh stolen
On the night of February 2, unknown miscreants stole gold and silver ornaments, diamond-crystalline ornaments, molding machine, etc, total valued over Rs. 7 lakh from the shop of one Donkupar Syiem at New Nongstoin
Stolen Delhi car found in Jowai
Police intercepted a stolen Hyundai Creta at New Hill in Jowai on February 7 at about 11.30 am. The driver, Narayan Das, managed to escape while police were taking the vehicle to the Hyundai showroom for verification. The car had a number registration of West Bengal. Later, it was learnt that the vehicle belonged to one Sandeep and it was reported stolen from the jurisdiction of Subhash police station in Delhi’s Ranibagh in January. The actual number registration was of Haryana.
Weather station stolen
S. Das Biswa, the administrative officer at ICAR (RB), lodged a complaint that on January 27, unknown miscreants stole an automatic weather station installed by the Metrological Observation.
