SHILLONG: Chief Minister Mukul Sangma’s statement that railway connectivity can provide boost tourism in the State has drawn flak from the KHNAM Youth Wing which has urged the government to improve the road conditions in famous tourist spots rather than “misleading the public”.
In a statement issued here on Sunday KHNAM Youth Wing president Thomas Passah said, “Those visiting the State encounter problems not because of absence of railway connectivity but due to bad road conditions in famous tourist spots.”
KHNAM also voiced its opposition to railway connectivity as “till date there is no proper mechanism to check influx in the State”.
The CM had allayed fears of influx of illegal migrants in Meghalaya citing that the government was thoroughly committed to dealing with the issue.
It may be mentioned that DCA Minister Prestone Tynsong has also come out in support of railway connectivity in the State.
