SHILLONG: In an act of honesty, a BSF jawan returned an abandoned bag containing cash which was lying on the pavement at BSF Campas Umpling to its owner on Monday.
The constable Narenda Kumar from 123 Battalion, who found the suspicious bag first, informed the control room at BSF Meghalaya Frontier. The BSF dog squad and the bomb detection team cordoned off the area and recovered the bag which contained cash worth Rs. 20,000 and some important documents.
After scrutinising the documents, the BSF authorities ascertained the owner and later handed over the bag to one Anoop K in the presence of Sabu A Joseph, Deputy Inspector General/Principal Staff Officer of BSF frontier headquarter.
Anoop was thankful to the BSF authorities and constable Kumar for his honesty in handing over the bag and the official papers.
Anoop from  Nezone Pies & Structures, G.S. Road, Guwahati, is a frequent visitor to BSF at Umpling for official purpose.
