SHILLONG: Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programmes will be conducted across East Khasi Hills to encourage the youths to register in the electoral roll.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a programme, EKH Deputy Commissioner P.S. Dkhar said, “We have to encourage citizens who are above 18 years of age to come forward and enroll themselves as voters.”
He added that SVEEP programmes, which seek to reach out to citizens by educating them on the electoral process, will be undertaken at the interior places of the district.
When asked whether the enrollment of youth has increased in the district, Dkhar said, “The enrollment has increased over the years since the intention of the government is not to leave behind any voter.”
