Pynursla Civil Sub-Division inaugurated

SHILLONG: Chief Minister Mukul Sangma hit back at those accusing the government of using the Civil Sub-Division inaugurations as a political tool before the Assembly election stating that it is the duty of the government to fulfil its poll manifesto.
The Chief Minister, while speaking after the inauguration of the Pynursla Civil Sub-division on Wednesday pointed out that even the Supreme Court has observed that “for political parties which have received the mandate from the electorate for forming the government, the guiding principle will be the political parties’ manifesto.”
“Every member of such political party should be loyal to those promises and ensure that they are fulfilled,” he added.
The HYC and the FKJGP Mawlai circle had on Tuesday alleged that the inauguration of C&RD blocks and Civil Sub-Divisions in certain constituencies is a political move of the government in the run up to the 2018 polls.
Stating that the government is committed to fulfilling its promises, Sangma said, “We articulate those things, (the manifesto) based on various hopes and expectations of the people and that’s how we stand committed to fulfil the promises.” Assuring that “the State will be placed on the highest pedestal”, the CM said, “A democratic system provides that every political party can seek the mandate from the electorate based on certain mission and vision for the people and the State.” He further informed that on February 27, Chokpot Civil Sub-Division will be inaugurated. Mawshynrut in West Khasi Hills and Raksamgre in West Garo Hills will be inaugurated after the budget session.
Civil Sub Division will usher in development
Meanwhile, Sangma said Pynursla constituency will witness total development with the new Civil Sub-Division.   Addressing the gathering at the inaugural function of Pynursla Civil Sub-Division at U.U.P Sports Club Stadium in Pynursla, Sangma said the place has many potential entrepreneurs and they should create an enabling environment  for the future generations. He also lauded the “collective community action as seen in the region which has positive stories”.
Pynursla is the first of the four civil sub-divisions that the government promised to inaugurate while presenting the 2016-17 State Budget. The other civil sub-divisions to be inaugurated are Mawshynrut in West Khasi Hills, Chokpot in South Garo Hills and Raksamgre in West Garo Hills.
The government had also announced the creation of four new community and rural development blocks which were subsequently increased to six.
D. Hynniewta will be the SDO (Civil) for Pynursla.
“We have a budget session starting from the 3rd of next month and next year we are going to come back to the people to seek their mandate. That is what our Constitution and democratic system provides. It is important as you respond to the call of duty and as electorates please remember that you are responsible for the destiny of the state,” the Chief Minister said and urged the people to follow the example of places like Mawlynnong that have set a new benchmark for the State in terms of tourism.
Meanwhile, P.D. Rynjah, general secretary of the Joint Action Committee for demanding Pynursla Sub- Division, said the people of the area were longing for a Civil Sub-Division for the last 32 years.
East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner P.S. Dkhar informed that the Pynursla C&RD Block has 15 gram sevak circles and 3 gram sevak circles from Laitkroh village, which collectively constitute 171 villages. There will be two officers to work as ADC in charge and EAC of the new Civil Subdivision.
C&RD Minister S Dhar, Parliamentary Secretary, Mining & Geology etc Coming One Ymbom, Parliamentary Secretary, Tourism etc Kennedy Khyriem, MLA, Sutnga-Saipung, Hopeful Bamon, MLA, Sohra, Titosstarwell Chyne, MLA Chokpot, Bluebell R Sangma, Chief Secretary, K S Kropha, Principal Secretary M S Rao, Principal Secretary, R V Suchiang and other senior officers of the government attended the inauguration of the civil sub-division.
