Bindo hints at withdrawal of support if there is dilly-dally
SHILLONG: The UDP sub-committee that met on Monday on the KHADC affairs decided to write to the Meghalaya Governor after the end of the session for a probe into the various corruption cases plaguing the Council. The party also made it clear that it would not hesitate to withdraw support if CEM P.N Syiem does not provide satisfactory reply.
The chairman of the sub-committee, Bindo Lanong, said on Monday since the move on the part of the UDP to write to District Council Affairs Minister Prestone Tynsong is construed by the KHADC CEM as having links with the Congress, the party has decided to write to the Governor for a probe into the financial irregularities in the Council to prove that the party does not have any truck with the Congress.
“While the UDP MDCs will continue to agitate during the ongoing session about the various irregularities, the party will also wait for corrective steps on the part of the CEM,” Lanong said.
According to Lanong, if there are still no direct answers to the queries on scams, UDP will be compelled to withdraw support. He asserted that the KHADC chief cannot escape from accountability and transparency.
