JOWAI: The body of a young woman was found along NH-44 at Dkhiah East village in East Jaintia Hills on Thursday morning.Police said they were informed by locals who spotted the body around 5am.
“The body is yet to be identified. There was an injury mark on the right side of the girl’s forehead. She seems to be a Khasi or a Pnar,” said Khliehriat Officer In charge L.K Lyngkhoi.
East Jaintia Hills SP S. Thamar said the police suspect that the girl was either pushed out of a vehicle or she jumped from it. “Rape cannot be ruled out. We are waiting for the autopsy report,” he added.
