2,000 join BJP in Tikrikilla

TURA: BJP leaders in Garo Hills have said around 2,000 members of the Congress, UDP and independents have joined the saffron brigade in the past three days.
“In the last three days, about 2,000 workers from the Congress, UDP and Independent candidates joined our party in Tikrikilla,” claimed BJP leaders Monindra Rabha, who is a former MLA, Anil Kr Koch, Bhupender Hajong (MDC) and Mozzamel Hussain Mondal at the party’s Karyakarta Sammelan at Paham village in Tikrikilla on Sunday afternoon.
BJP had won a seat in the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council in the 2016 elections and at present it has five MDCs.
Prominent among those who joined the BJP is former Congress member Rohini Nath Basu, who unsuccessfully contested the 2013 assembly polls from Tikrikilla on Congress ticket. The programme was also attended by Dalu BJP MDC Kurosh Marak.
