Symposium on Khasi language and literature

SHILLONG: The Department of Khasi, NEHU in collaboration with the North Eastern Council (NEC), Shillong organized a one day symposium on the theme, “The Beginning of Written Khasi Language and Literature” to commemorate the 175th Anniversary of Khasi language and literature.
On the occasion, Higher and Technical Education Minister Roshan Warjri released a journal entitled Ka Dak Sah Kynmaw (special issue of Ka Thwet Jingstad).
The journal is a collection of various research works in the field of language and Literature.
Warjri also encouraged the students and scholars of Khasi literature to enrich the language. She appreciated the Department of Khasi for not only focusing on the field of literature but laying emphasis on language as well.
Prof L.S. Gassah stressed on the “need to explore more into the study of other varieties within Khasi language”.
