Patna: A vociferous Opposition stalled proceedings of both the houses of Bihar legislature on Wednesday seeking immediate sacking of Bihar Excise and Prohibition minister Abdul Jalil Mastan for his highly derogatory remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Both the houses were thrown into turmoil soon after they assembled for the day with opposition BJP members storming the well of the house to demand immediate sacking the minister from Nitish Kumar Ministry for his uncharitable remark against the PM.
While the upper house was adjourned within five minutes amid disorderly scenes, the lower house witnessed two adjournments before finally being adjourned till lunch recess amid unprecedented pandemonium with the opposition members insisting that they would not allow the house to function till the minister was sacked. As disorder reigned supreme in the both the houses, no business could be transacted during the pre-lunch session.
While the upper house was adjourned till lunch recess within five minutes by acting chairman, the lower house was adjourned after it reassembled after an hour break as defiant opposition members continued to create disorderly scenes in support of their demand for immediate sacking of the minister. While raising the issue, leader of the opposition in the state assembly Prem Kumar said Excise Minister Abdul Jalil Mastan had crossed all limits and asked a gathering to beat the photographs of Prime Minister Narendra Modi with shoes at a function in Purnea. He had also described the Prime Minister as a Naxalite and a dacoit , Mr Kumar said and demanded immediate dismissal of the minister from the ministry.
As it is the excise minister had at a function at Anaur in Purnea on February 22 ,to protest demonetisation, asked a crowd to beat the photographs of the Prime Minister with shoes.
The video had gone viral on local television channel in which the Minister was seen asking the people to beat the photograph of PM as it was he who had said that if he failed to end people’s woes within 90 days of demonetisation, he was ready to face any punishment. A few supporters were seen beating the photographs of the PM kept on the state with shoes in the presence of the minister. (UNI)
