SHILLONG: There is a demand to facilitate a special discussion in the Assembly session or at an all-party meet on the ‘Khasi States agreement’ and the lack of response from the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council since August 3, 2012.
In this regard, John Kharshiing the co-chairman, Meghalaya State Planning Board, and Chairman, Grand Council of Chiefs of Meghalaya, and Spokesperson, Federation of Khasi States in a letter addressed to the chief minister said several petitions have been sent to the Ministry of Home Affairs and Parliamentary Committee on Home Affairs including the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST).
“The delay in redressal of these important issues have direct impact in the many conflicts that are erupting in various forms of protests,” Kharshiing said.
