SHILLONG: Several residents of Pynthorumkhrah have alleged that the LPG cylinders they bought were partially filled with water. The consumers said they ran out of gas within a week but the cylinders weighed more than an empty one should.
An annoyed resident told The Shillong Times that they had been complaining to the LPG dealers concerned for more than a month “but the suppliers would often tell us to call the customer care centre at Guwahati. But that also proved futile.”
A woman at Pynthorumkhrah said she ran out of LPG gas after 20 days.
With the board examinations on, many parents among the disgruntled consumers said it has become difficult for them to tide over the crisis.
Gas suppliers have expressed their helplessness to consumers saying the filling point is in Guwahati and the agencies only dispatch the cylinders.
When contacted, Pynthorumkhrah MLA A.L Hek said none of the residents have come forward to complain to him on the matter.
“I will take up the matter with the Deputy Commissioner if they complain,” he said.
