Farmers’ training in Rabi Paddy

SHILLONG: The Central Integrated Pest Management Centre, Shillong, recently organised a season-long training programme on Rabi Paddy at MAMETI 5th mile Upper Shillong.
B. S. Phogat, Additional Plant Protection Adviser in the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare inaugurated the programme.
The training emphasised on the less use of agricultural chemicals in plant protection measures and finding out alternative solutions such as biological control, ecological engineering, conservation of beneficial insects and other latest technologies developed in organic paddy cultivation.
The Central Integrated Pest Management Centre is under the Directorate of Plant Protection Quarantine and Storage, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.
