SHILLONG: A city-based college has denied full information to an RTI applicant because the secretary of its governing body was absent.
CSWO under president Irene Hujon had sent an RTI application on December 2 addressing the public information officer of Women’s College.
The group wanted to know about the year of establishment of the college, number of students, teaching and non-teaching staff, a copy of vacancy announcements and canteen services, among others in its 16-point RTI query.
However, when a government official  pursued the matter on February 17 and asked for documents required to answer the RTI, the college could not provide all information which were in the domain of the secretary.
Among the unanswered queries were copy of the vacancy advertisement for teachers’ post from 2010 to 2016, tender floated for running the college canteen and a copy of tender notice.
