TURA: The Garo Hills-based organisations who have been protesting against the police firing on civilians in Resubelpara have said they are not planning any non-cooperation movement in the coming days in view of the ongoing matriculation and college examinations.
“We have not called for any protest other than the two nights of blockade this week. We will decide our next course of action after the exams,” said Garo Hills State Movement Committee leader Nikman Momin.
He gave this statement to clear the air on rumours about a likely non-cooperation movement. Barring a few cases of burning of tyres on the road, the first night of the road blockade on Tuesday passed off peacefully in Garo Hills. However, traffic was almost nil on the highway. Police escorted vehicles coming in late.
