SHILLONG: Road connectivity in landlocked Meghalaya is set to get a major push forward with the National Highway Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) planning to implement as many as 11 road projects in the State.
The proposed 11 road projects will cover a total distance of around 822 kilometers and the estimated cost of the projects including land acquisition is around Rs 10,825 crore.
Some of the projects which are to be taken up by the NHIDCL include the double-lane Nongstoin – Wahkaji road, two-lane with paved shoulder of western bypass of Shillong, improvement of NH-40 between Shillong and Dawki, construction of Dawki bridge under JICA funding and a road from Assam-Meghalaya border to Dalu via Baghmara.All the projects are still in the planning stage, a status report on the projects said.
