SHILLONG: Fine tuning of the proposed amendment to the Meghalaya Compulsory Registration of Marriage Act, 2012 will be done in a few days as certain clauses need further examination.
Informing this here on Thursday, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Martin Danggo said another cabinet meeting will be called before presenting the proposed amendment in the House.
“We have looked into the aspects of certain clauses and we need to do further examination. No conclusive decision has been reached so far. Fine tuning (of the proposed amendment) will be done in a few days as other sections of the Act will be looked into,” he said.
Danggo added that he has directed the department concerned to examine the matter.
University Act
On the other hand, Chief Minister Mukul Sangma said that the cabinet presented the proposed amendment to the University of Technology and Management Act, 2010, stating that there will be a change of sponsorship for the college.
“It (the proposed amendment) will be presented in the House. Some other legislative measures will be in the offing,” he added.
