SHILLONG: The leaking roof of the Assembly annoyed Deborah Marak when she was in the midst of her reply during the question hour on Monday.
Rainwater started dripping from the roof when the Assembly was discussing the serious issue of school dropouts.
The School Education and Literacy minister looked at the Speaker and said drops of water were falling on her head.
However, the Speaker said he thought she was giving an example as part of the reply and this resulted in a peal of laughter in the House.
Later, UDP member Metbah Lyngdoh, who stood up to raise a question on the same issue, said, “Water is dropping here too. Umbrella is required.”
The Speaker assured that he will look into the matter.
Earlier, the sudden disruption to the sound system in the Assembly twice when Congress MLA Dikkanchi Shira wanted to raise a question and when the minister was preparing to answer was another irritant.
