Kharkrang questioned in ILP case

SHILLONG: Former East Khasi Hills police chief M. Kharkrang was cross-examined during the hearing on ILP-related damage suit on Wednesday.
Representatives of three pressure groups – All India Garo Union (AIGU), CSWO and Synjuk ki Seng Samla Shnong (SSSS) – were also present during the hearing.
K. Sunar, legal counsel for AIGU president Elbarth Marak, said the former East Khasi Hills SP was discharged after cross-examination.
The next date for the hearing is on April 25.
The State government had claimed damage of several crores of rupees during the agitations in 2013 called by 14 pressure groups demanding implementation of Inner Line Permit system in Meghalaya.
