SHILLONG: Teachers of upper primary deficit schools in Tura Sadar have not received salary since January.
In a press release, G.R Sangma, on behalf of the teachers, said they received information from “reliable sources” in the office of the Director of School Education & Literacy (DSEL) in Shillong that the salary for January and February was released in the second week of March.
Romesh Sangma, the Head Assistant at the office of the sub-divisional school education officer in Tura, came to Shillong on March 16 to get their sanction order but he did not return till the filing of this report.
“We were told that the head assistant is enjoying the scenic beauty of the state capital,” Sangma said in the letter.
“What is the purpose of installing the fax machine in the office concerned, when the Head Assistant himself did not care to telefax our sanction order if he wants to enjoy himself in the state capital?” the teachers said.
