SHILLONG: Meghalaya apprised the Supreme Court of the varied initiatives it had taken to implement midday meal scheme and assured that it would adhere to the format in giving details of the scheme.
The court, while hearing a PIL filed by NGO ‘Antarashtriya Manav Adhikaar Nigraani’ in 2013, on matters related to cleanliness in the midday meals on March 23, asked states to upload the number of students under the scheme on the website .
Supreme Court lawyer and State Government Counsel Ranjan Mukherjee said the court was apprised that there was not a single instance of lack of cleanliness in providing midday meals in Meghalaya.
A detailed and comprehensive affidavit was filed on behalf of the State Government with regard to the implementation of the midday meal scheme in letter and spirit.
