SHILLONG: The State BJP has allayed persisting fears about ban on cow slaughter in the State.
Following the crackdown by the new Uttar Pradesh government on illegal slaughter houses, a few groups with vested interest are repeatedly trying to mislead the public for political mileage, said BJP state general secretary David Kharsati in a statement on Sunday.
The BJP leader said the fact that cow slaughter in Uttar Pradesh has been banned is being used as a whispering campaign by rumour mongers to suggest that BJP in Meghalaya will do the same.
“But this is not the truth. The cow slaughter ban in Uttar Pradesh is only for the unhygienic and illegal ones. These political groups with vested interest spread such news to save themselves, hampering the State’s as well as the nation’s future that will obviously be bright and prosperous if BJP comes to power,” he said.
People of Meghalaya should not feel insecure about BJP, he added.
“They should come forward to transform, energise and clean up India. BJP is for sabka saath sabka vikas (development for all),” the statement from the party added.
