SHILLONG: Chief Minister Mukul Sangma has assured the A’king Nokma of Danakgre, Enilla Ch Marak, that the A’king will not be divided and the village will remain in West Garo Hills.
Marak, along with her clan leaders and senior members of Danakgre A’king, submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Mukul Sangma on Saturday evening demanding exclusion of her A’king from South West Garo Hills (Ampati).
Residents of the A’king have been left in the lurch after government departments in West Garo Hills stopped issuing important documents stating that the area now falls under South West Garo Hills.
The residents were in the dark about the Government’s move to include Danakgre in Rerapara block in South West Garo Hills till government officials told them that they have to apply for all documents in Ampati.
The A’king Nokma was also not aware of the inclusion till she was denied a form at the DC office in Tura that was in her A’king.
Sangma told the delegation that whoever is found denying the basic necessities to residents at Danakgre will be strictly dealt with.
Eviction issue
The matters of Rongka Chiring eviction move was also discussed to which Sangma said Deputy Commissioner Pravin Bakshi has been instructed to resolve the matter amicably. The A’king Nokma, however, emphasised that all matters concerning her A’king should be consulted with her so as not to breach the trust.
