SHILLONG: The construction of an integrated check post at Dawki has met with opposition from Bangladeshi authorities.
When BSF officials were conducting an inspection on March 27, their Bangladeshi counterparts objected to it.
Sources said according to the law it is necessary that the neighbouring country must be informed about any infrastructure coming up within 150 yards of the international border and the same is done when Bangladesh constructs any infrastructure.
During the inspection, the detailed project report of the construction was handed over to the Border Guards Bangladesh. “They will present the case before their Ministry for necessary formalities,” officials said.
The officials also asserted that the work on the project has not been affected since a huge chunk of the project falls outside the periphery of the 150 yards from the international border.
