Woman assaults mother, threatens children
Phrianda Challam on March 31 lodged a complaint that her sister, Rishisha Challam, who is an alcoholic, had assaulted their mother and threatened her own four children with dire consequences. The children, however, ran away from home due to fear. Police arrested the accused and handed over her minor children to the Child Line, Jowai. Rishisha was later forwarded to court and remanded into 14 days judicial custody.
Beheaded body
The body of a person without head was recovered from  Nongjri in Indo-Bangladesh border recently. The incident happened a few days after the turmoil in Bangladesh when person identified as P Khongtir was guarding the betel nut plantations in the border
Man goes missing with his truck
Lopina Kharsyntiew (42) of Patarim, Block-II, Mawlai, was reportedly missing along with his truck (ML-05J-5058) since March 21.
Woman molested
One thirty year old woman lodged a complaint that on March 28 around 4.30 pm, Mitza Nath entered her residence at a village (WKH) and molested her.
Fake SBI call
Bikash Kathari lodged a complaint that on March 21 around 10.30 am, he received a phone call from one person identified himself as an employee of SBI and asked for the complainant’s ATM detail. After one hour the complainant detected that Rs. 46,181 was debited from his SBI account.
Assaulted
A woman on March 31 had lodged a complaint that her son has been assaulting her for the last ten months. Brayan Kharpran assaulted and threatened her with dire consequences for not giving him money as demanded. The police have arrested the accused.
Constable Kaushik Bhattacharjee of 2nd MLP Bn., Goeragre (WGH) lodged a complaint that on March 28, while he was on dak duty to Shillong, Hamid Sohtun confronted, verbally abused, assaulted and threatened him with dire consequences at Meghalaya Secretariat.
Theft
On March 29 around 11.30 pm, unknown miscreant broke into the house of Hazel Sawian at Nongthymmai and stole a cell phone and a purse containing Rs. 4000 cash.
