SHILLONG: The State Government said on Friday it would review its directive to government and government-aided schools on uniform timing.
School Education and Literacy Minister Deborah Marak said the commissioner and secretary of the department has been asked to examine the matter.
Last month, the Directorate of School Education and Literacy had asked schools to follow uniform timing after the winter vacation.
However, the State BJP leadership on Thursday urged Marak to change the new rule as this was creating inconvenience for students and parents alike.
A BJP statement had said many under-privileged students who come from far-flung areas have to do domestic chores or menial jobs before coming to school and the notification has affected them.
