SHILLONG: Congress member Stevie Marak has come down heavily on GHADC CEM Denang T Sangma, for resigning even before he could face the no-confidence test on the floor of the House during the budget session of the GHADC.
In a press statement, Marak said that the no confidence motion was the first time in a democratic set up that an elected representative would resign from his Chair even before the commencement of the voting for no-confidence motion. “It was neither indicated nor informed beforehand that he would lose or win the motion, but showing his cowardice, the CEM resigned from his chair rather than face the challenge,” Marak stated. He pointed out that his resigning has cut short the budget session.
“The budget session is not meant only for the ruling NPP but for all the areas under GHADC. Such people who are afraid to face challenges are not fit to be leaders. This also shows that there is no transparency in how they carry out their work,” he added.
