SHILLONG: UDP MLA HS Shylla has claimed that KHADC CEM PN Syiem was the chief of newly founded People’s Democratic Front (PDF).
In a press statement, Shylla claimed that “since Syiem has told a local news daily that he has decided to resign in July and will lead the PDF, the conditions of the Tenth Schedule (Anti-Defection Law) should apply on him”.
“If anyone complains about him to the Assembly Speaker, he (Syiem) will be disqualified as an MLA and will not be able to contest in elections for some time,” Shylla asserted.
However, when contacted, Syeim said that he was very much with the Congress and any decision regarding the change of party will be taken only at a later stage.
Regarding the KHADC scam, Syiem asked coalition partner UDP to be patient as the matter is still under investigation.
Though the former secretary of KHADC Wellljune Syiemlieh had named the CEM in the probe report, the KHADC chief said that he was not paid any amount of money.
“The official should have followed financial rules,” he added.
