Minor’s rape: Third charge sheet filed

SHILLONG: The city police have filed a charge sheet in the high-profile trafficking and rape case involving a 14-year-old girl.
This is the third charge sheet in the case that involves some of the prominent names in the city, including Home Minister HDR Lyngdoh.
Public prosecutor I.C Jha on Wednesday said Madanrting police filed the charge sheet in the rape case.
The 14-year-old girl, who was forced into flesh trade by local pimp Mamoni Parvin, was raped several times. Mamoni and some of her accomplices are behind bars now.
Earlier, Laitumkhrah police filed a charge sheet against Mawhati MLA Julius Dorphang, one of the prime accused in the case under the POCSO Act. Another charge sheet was filed by Ri Bhoi police against Dorphang and five others.
Apart from Dorphang, the police also charge-sheeted Parvin (27), Darisha Mary Kharbamon (22) and Monalisa Shangpliang (22), under Section 366A of the IPC, Section 77 of the Juvenile Justice Act, Section 5 of the Immoral Trafficking Prevention Act and Section 17 of the POCSO Act.
