SHILLONG: Concern over the shoddy work done at Maulakandi to Goladigli and Phulbari Ginning Mill to Maulakandi roads in West Garo Hills, the A·Chik Indigenous Justice Initiative has petitioned the Assistant Executive Engineer, PWD (Roads), Tura.

The Director of the Forum, Alex K. Sangma, in the petition said that there is no side beam in the Moulakandi to Goladigli Road and the width is less than 3.75m in the entire road. Alleging that the Contractors have not constructed the road according to the norms of the Project guidelines and estimates of the concerned department, the NGO demanded that the license of the concerned contractor should be blacklisted.

The group also questioned the Construction of the Phulbari Ginning Mill to Maulakandi saying the stretch of the road is highly flood prone and the bridges which have been constructed is faulty.
