SHILLONG: The issue of PN Syiem’s suspension never ceases to rake up controversy within the Congress. Former deputy chief minister and senior party leader Rowell Lyngdoh has said due process was not followed before taking action against Congress legislator P.N Syiem by the party.
According to Lyngdoh, the decision to suspend Syiem was taken by party president DD Lapang without following the procedures.
“Neither any show cause notice was issued to Syiem nor the disciplinary committee met to discuss the matter,” Lyngdoh said.
Syiem, who is the KHADC chief executive member, was critical about various policies of the State Government, including how it hurriedly passed the dual posts Bill and handled the issues related to empowerment of headmen and extension of jurisdiction of MUDA.
According to Lyngdoh, the MPCC president merely depended on news reports to suspend Syiem from the Congress for three years.
