SHILLONG: BSNL has stopped giving new landline connections because the service provider has “not laid new cables”, the BSNL office opposite Lady Hydari Park has told its several potential users.
Several aggrieved applicants from Laban’s European Ward in a statement said the customer service department at the BSNL office refused to give new landline connections.
When contacted, the personal assistant to the Joint General Manager (HQ), BSNL, expressed surprise. He said cables have already been laid.
The number of BSNL landline users has gone down significantly hitting the company’s earnings.
Sources in the PWD Shillong Central Division said it did not have any information about BSNL laying cables and it is not right to blame PWD.
The General Manager Telecom District (GMTD) also denied knowing about laying cables.
