SHILLONG: The Joint Action Committee (JAC) comprising CSWO (Irene) among others has clarified that it has nothing against the KSU or the Ri Bhoi Youth Federation (RBYF), who have denied taking money from the manager of an under-construction petrol pump at Umran Dairy.
Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, CSWO (I) president, Irene Hujon said, “The JAC has nothing against the KSU and RBYF but it was Rohit Jain, the manager of the petrol pump who mentioned about the organisations when he met us at Umran Dairy on April 5.”
The JAC is opposing the construction of the petrol pump at Umran Dairy fearing that effluents released from it will pollute the adjacent river which is used by the people of the area for their needs.
Making a U-turn from its earlier stand, the CSWO instead slammed the manager of the petrol pump, Jain for “dividing us to gain personal benefits”.
Earlier the CSWO(I) had accused the KSU, North Khasi Hills district and the RBYF of taking money from Jain to allow the setting up of the petrol pump.
