Dimapur police busts inter-state flesh traders gang, 4 held

Kohima Apr 12 (UNI) Dimapur police’s District Anti- Human Trafficking Unit (DAHTU) has reportedly claimed to have unearthed and busted a major human trafficking racket operating in Nagaland and arrested four persons.

According to a release issued by Dimapur police today the racket was ‘unearthed’ by the District Anti- Human Trafficking Unit (DAHTU) under Dimapur Police after two girls from the state, who were rescued and kept in a shelter home at Pune, were repatriated back home.
According to the police, the women police station in Dimapur had received information from a Pune-based shelter home about two girls from Nagaland rescued by Pune police from a brothel.
“A team from the women police station, Dimapur was also dispatched to Pune and the victims brought back home on 21.03.2017 after necessary repatriation processes,” it informed. Basing on the information supplied by the rescued girls, the anti-trafficking unit arrested 4 persons.

Dimapur police has identified the arrested persons one from Goriarmari village, Borpata district in Assam and present resident of Tenyiphe-I, Dimapur; one woman of Goriarmari village of Assam and present resident of Tenyiphe-I, Dimapur; one person from Tezpur in Assam and present resident of Phaipijang in Dimapur and the fourth one from Murigaon in Assam.
The release said, “Functioning in an organized network, the traffickers targeted victims by luring them with prospective jobs or abducting them and supplied to the source through chains of traffickers. The DAHTU is investigating into the case to identify and rescue more such victims. Meanwhile, the victims have been re-united with their respective families after completion of required formalities,” it informed. UNI
