TURA: Teachers affiliated to the Meghalaya Upper Primary and Lower Primary School Teachers’ Association in Garo Hills have extended support to Wednesday’s hunger strike in Shillong.
A conglomeration of SSA teachers and 4th teachers under the banner Meghalaya SSA School Association (MSSASA) has called hunger strike after the Government failed to fulfil their demands by March 31.
Protesters have decided to storm the Additional Secretariat building.
The teachers across the State are demanding that the Government clears their pending arrears and hike the salary of 4th teachers.
“Though we are unable to participate in the strike, we are wholeheartedly supporting it. The government has repeatedly cheated us. So this time we should not stop for verbal assurances,” they said.
