Manipur CM appeals militants to join mainstream

Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Thursday appealed to all militants to join the mainstream. The Chief Minister made the appeal at a function where militants belonging to banned People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak-Progressive (PREPAK-Pro) surrendered before him here.
“I am very happy that two militants have surrendered to join the mainstream. I appeal to all local militants to join the mainstream. I also appeal to those youths who have fled their homes to join militancy to return to mainstream,” Singh said.
The two militants – self-styled ‘Sergeant Major’ Salam Sitoljit (28) and self-styled ‘Corporal’ Pebam Bishorjit (24)surrendered before the chief minister, a state government press release said. The two militants surrendered after escaping from their Myanmar camp, officials said. (PTI)
