SHILLONG: The KHNAM youth wing has taken exception to the SBI for continuing to use non-local names for Iewduh and Umsning and has apprised the deputy commissioners of East Khasi Hills and Ri Bhoi n this regard.
KHNAM youth wing president Thomas Passah said, “There has been a clear violation of the notification by the State Bank of India operating in the State which is continuing the use of Bara Bazaar (Iewduh) and Naya Bungalow (Umsning) till date.”He added that action must be taken against the SBI for the violations.He maintained that use of non-local names hurt the sentiments of the indigenous people.In the memorandum submitted to the DCs, the youth wing of the regional party sought legal action against SBI for violation of the government order.
