SHILLONG: The contractor dealing with the High Security Registration Plates (HSRP) has agreed to reduce the rate as per the hearing on the PIL held in High Court of Meghalaya on Monday.
During hearing of a PIL filed by Wanbok S Lyngdoh, the counsel for the respondents made a submission that the contractor has made an offer to the Meghalaya Government for some reduction on the rates of HSRP.
The government advocate made a submission that on the offer so made, an appropriate decision will be taken by the government at the earliest. Taking note on submissions, the Court deferred the consideration of the matter and listed it for hearing on April 20.
The CAG report of March 31, 2016 had revealed that the same vendor M/s Shimnit Utsch had charged more in Meghalaya compared to Mizoram and the difference ranged from Rs 14.43 to Rs 736.29 for different categories of vehicles.
